Regardless of your politics, race, religion, sexuality, gender, or familial status, we are all in this together. Let’s find ways to prioritize what will keep us all afloat together and stop trying to jettison those with whom we don’t feel an affinity for.
Look around you and find a place to make a constructive difference instead of criticizing those who make an effort. If you don’t like what’s happening, find a way to contribute yourself toward the solution. Make a difference instead of just making disgruntled noise and undermining the efforts of those willing to take a risk.
Educate yourself and your children and teach them to be critical, independent thinkers. This means listening, reading, and researching the things you may disagree with or don’t believe and figuring out why you think and believe as you do that drive the choices you make. Be honest with yourself to recognize when your choices may be hindering your own progress and that of others.
These are the things I am trying to do in my life and that I see happening in the lives of those who inspire me and offer life examples of how to overcome and move beyond the limitations of the past.
Figure out whether you are going to bloom where you’re planted or choose to wither and be irrelevant in your own life. It’s up to each of us to make this choice.
- Day 7 Gratitude
That I live in a country where I have choices and the right to express myself and ask questions and am encouraged and expected to do so.
