Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
(Although known most widely in its abbreviated form above,
the entire prayer reads as follows…)
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Today, as I start my journey of recovery, for this day, I am reminded of the following verse:
Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV) –22It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
I pray that I am able to surrender today and walk, think, speak, and act according to the will of my Higher Power. With a thankful heart, I gratefully accept the gift of a new day and new mercies. I pray for the guidance and the willingness to accept, change, and know those things which I am unable to change, the things I’m responsible for changing, and the understanding of those things. I ask for help in seeing the world around me and those in it as You would have me see it and accept that You are working things out and I just need to trust in that.
Again, I thank you for your post!! I never knew The Serenity Prayer had another part to it — and what a beautiful part it is, too!!
